These blocks
offer a host of options over a standard ring based lay up such as:
1. No more rings to glue, no more glue lines, no more clamping and
waiting for adhesive to cure.
2. All Blocks are pre-bored to 1/4" to eliminate drilling/boring on
your part.
3. Unlike Cork Rings which visually show the same pattern around the
circumference of the grip, these blocks will exhibit a visual change
in grain structure around the circumference of the grip....just like
natural wood does, because it's a solid piece ... not identical
rings. The 0 and 180 degree axis will exhibit one grain
pattern, and the 90 and 270 degree axis will exhibit a different
grain pattern.
4. If you really want to get fancy, the blocks are large enough in
size to punch your own rings, and more importantly, depending on how
you orient the cut of the ring to the pattern of the cork, you can
achieve different grain patterns from the same block of cork.
5. If you have a table saw, you can do some stunning work with these
blocks, the possibilities for fancy inlays such as ellipses,
diamonds, chevrons etc.... are virtually unlimited.
6. Cost of these blocks is exactly the same as if you purchased the
equivalent amount of exotic cork rings....actually cheaper because
you get the larger 1.5" size, as opposed to a 1.25" diameter ring.
7. With the use of a 4lb. density polyurethane foam core, you can
now make full grips out of Exotic Burl Cork, while maintaining the
ability to control the overall weight of the grip.
8. The blocks offer all of the advantages of the Exotic Burl Rings,
durability, cost, ease of machining etc....
